Its all about the hair

Who has fine and limp hair will understand my woes. I have oily scalp and dry ends. Since I am doing some sort of sports everyday, I wash my hair twice daily. Its a must for me to wash my hair in the morning before I go to work or even go out. Since I have very oily scalp, my roots will be oily when I get up from bed. Putting the issue of washing your hair daily aside, I also have a lil (actually its quite a big) problem with tangled hair in the morning as I tend to toss and turn around when sleeping. So every night before sleeping, I will plait my hair. Nothing fancy. Just a loose plait so that my hair wont be all tangled up. And it works! No more tangled hair in the morning!!!!  Not back to the fine and limp hair. I have very little hair and not to mention flat. No volume at all, NADA, NIL!!! Some people actually asked me whether I rebonded my hair. No I did not. Its just so flat. When I blowdry my hair, I dun need a comb even, I just simply swing the hairdryer around an...

Muesli for a healthy breakfast

Just started following a different lifestyle this Monday. (Whoa!!! Has it only been 4 days?) A low carb, low fat, high protein and high fibre diet. I cut out rice, noodles, kueh tiaw, meehoon, tang hoon, lau shu fun, bread, biscuits, keropok, chocolates and most importantly, no more sweet drinks even 100+ or even Pocari or Revive.  It's not very very very hard but I do get cravings for carbs sometimes. The trick is to keep yourself full so you wont feel hungry at any point in time. So you wont be tempted to take those simple carbs. Even fruits you have to be careful as they have high sugar content. Fruits like mangoes, bananas, apples, oranges, watermelon, durians, etc should be taken in moderation. A great idea for a healthy breakfast is muesli! I saw muesli being sold in Supasave but have never really taken a good look at it. It was Bi who told me that his colleague was eating this every morning and she lost a lot of weight that I started to take some interest in...

Something to cheer you up on a Monday

So sweet right? My bibineh knows some of the trick as well. I wish that my future kids will have a chance to know Bibineh as well. Wish to know more about Shih Tzu? I read up when I brought Bibineh to Bandar to stay that time. Caring for a dog is not easy. Do not treat him as a past time. They need a lot of TLC and time. If you can't afford the time, do not get a dog. Bibineh has been with me since 2001. Yeah you read that right, 2001. To date Bibineh is 11 years human age. Here are just some recent shots taken by Galaxy Note. I should probably compile all pictures together for Bibineh since he was a baby. Like koko like bibineh. This is how Bi and Bibineh sleeps together Tired Bibineh and me taking a rest together Such a poser!!!! Trying to act all emo and cool Random photo taking but Bibineh looks so cute here Bibineh saying 'Hi' to his new friend, Bibineh The Hamster Like I said, such a poser.  Bibineh and Bibineh the ...

Running

I first started running (I mean seriously la) was back in early March. Coz my good friend asked me whether I wanna join the SCB Charity Run which was on 8th April 2012. I thought why not since I wanna lose weight and plus its for charity. Originally she wanted to join the 10km run but on the day of the online registration, she said her other friends changed their mind and they were going for the 5km run. Hmmm......till today I dunno what came over me, I told her to go for the 10km run as we can easily do the 5km run. Lets challenge ourselves and stupidly (as per her) she agreed and thus my journey began. All I did was run after work. I went online and searched for programs that might help me accomplish my goal. I found the couch to 5k program here if anyone is interested. (Actually I had printed out the program and stuck it on my cubicle wall a couple of months before.) I had always wanted to start running as I have seen the results on both my papa and my bro. To say that they...

My first 10km run

So the big day is finally here. The day that I have started running for. The Standard Chartered Charity Run 2012!!!!!!! The night before I was pretty nervous. I could not really sleep. There were so many things to prepare for the run. I got my clothes ready. I had to transfer my running songs to Bi's nano coz no way am I gonna carry kick ass huge Samsung Note while running and no way am I gonna just hold the phone in my hand. So I had to transfer the songs from my Samsung Note (which I normally use while running on the treadmill) Then getting all the things ready such as my clothes, the bib, the tag, the extra clothes, sunblock, etc. I went to bed at around 12:30am and I toss and turned, toss and turned! Even when Bi came to bed around 2:30am, I was kinda semi-awake. I had set the alarm at 4:45am. So the next thing I heard was the alarm ringing. I thought to myself "Here goes nothing!".  I tried to eat some bread and drank a cup of hot milo. It was very h...

My first 8.59km!

I was very worried on whether I will be able to finish the SCB 10km run on 8th April 2012. My previous record was around 6km. But for the past week or so, I wasn't even running up to 4km! That's because I have Zumba class on Tues and Thurs and on Mon, Wed and Fri, I have badminton and after badminton, I cant run 5km. So on last Friday, I told myself that I have to run at least 6km on the threadmill. But when I reached 5km, I wasn't tired at all, so I told myself try to run 5.5km, then when I reached 5.5km, I would try 6km and so on and so forth. By using this method, I ran 8.59km nonstop! I shocked myself even and I felt so proud as it wasn't that long ago that I could not even run for 5 mins straight. I maintained a constant speed of 6kmh. I couldn't run very fast still. When I was doing the interval training, my fast speed was 7.2kmh.  I find that by maintaining a slower speed, I could actually run more, which is by far the better. This is for...

Complaints are everywhere

Complaints complaints complaints That is what I hear everyday! Do this also not right. Do that also not correct. Might as well don't do anything, at least I wont hear any complaints. Even if there is any complaints, it will be that I don't do anything. At least I am getting complaints for doing nothing. Better than do already, they just complain. Spoil mood!

A little something about my work

Remember my training in Sydney last year? They interviewed me and told me that it would be published on the GRAPA website in March 2012. I had almost forgotten about it till the relationship manager gave me the link to it. Read it here if you are interested. It was really great to sit in a room where you can talk about all the issues that you are facing in the telco industry. Those who are working in the telco industry will tell you that its one of its kind.  From the end to end perspective, which is from the moment subscriber make a call or use their phone to online or to SMS (just plain do anything that has anything to do with your network provider) and all the way to bill collection from subscribers. Its pretty interesting. Alot of things to learn and its really dynamic considering all the frauds that are currently plaguing the telco industry. I love what I do. It challenges me on every level especially since I am not from a technical background.

Everytime

Everytime I feel complacent, I'll look at the message. It never stop me from feeling the surge of adrenaline flowing to my veins. Some words can never be taken back, no matter how you wish it to be.

My first 5km!!!!

I ran 5km!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Straight!!!!!!! without rest. I may have ran a little slow or fast but I ran all the way! here's the evidence. Feel so proud. I know to some people 5km is peanuts to them. But bear in mind that I have not ran in donkey years and even when I did it was so infrequent that it can be counted as non-running. hahaha! Camwhore sikit. Face so red after the 5km So yeah I started to take running seriously is like 2 weeks ago. I have reached half of my target distance which is 10km. Some may be puzzling why did I take up running suddenly. Its all because I signed up for the 10km charity marathon from SCB. The marathon is on 8th April 2012. I am seriously nervous. I don't wanna be the last! So I must, must, must train harder!

Home made Tiramisu

The Tiramisu turned out not too bad. Does this tickles your fancy Like I said in the previous post, the layers of cheese and whipped cream is not very even. But It was delicious!!!! The layers as you can see are not very even. LOL!!!! Minus marks for presentation. I felt very warm after eating the Tiramisu and I thought that it was due to me running 5km. Haha, actually it was the Kahlua. So you literally feel warm and fuzzy inside after eating my home made Tiramisu.  It was fairly easy to make. I like the coffee taste to be really strong so I used quite a lot of the coffee mixture and I used Abbi's really strong coffee brew. And I reduced the sugar and increased the portion of coffee and Kahlua. The mascarpone cheese was not that think. Maybe I should have used more but I had already added in more than what the recipe has asked for. Next time I'll double up on the cheese, I also added in an extra egg yolk as the recipe calls for 6 large eggs and the eggs at home are...

What for dinner?

Cooked roast pork belly with BBQ sauce last night. Mind you, the BBQ was home made by myself. Got the recipe from the internet. It was pretty easy, just pop it into the oven for 30 minutes with olive oil, pepper and cut onions. Then after 30 minutes just pour in the home made sauce and bask regularly for a further of 25 minutes and VOILA!!!!! A very delicious dinner. Hot from the oven After slicing the meat, pour the leftover sauce on top Looks delicious? Its pretty easy and fuss free. Follow the recipe from here . I googled dry cider and found that its actually alcoholic so I doubt I can find it in the Brunei supermarkets. So I just used White Chinese Rice wine and like I said it was delish!!!!! I also substituted brown sugar with normal white sugar. I also added extra heaped table spoon of tomato puree. I think this dish was quite healthy as I cut away the skin and plus the pork belly meat has only a little fats. Plus I only used olive oil to...

Have you ever

Have you ever miss that special feelings that a place gives you? Have you ever had that special feeling that a certain song gives you? Have you ever had that rush of feelings that came to you when you hear that particular song? Have you ever stop and admire the scene that is just right before you? Have you ever had that sense of satisfaction whenever you had achieve your goal? Have you ever felt truly happy in a moment? Have you ever eaten the food cooked by your loved ones? Have you ever looked back and be able to laugh about what happened? Have you ever had someone tell you that you looked beautiful? Inside and out? Have you ever felt like you belong? Have you ever felt needed? Have you ever felt so angry that you feel that you just wanna hit something? Have you ever felt appreciated? Have you ever had that gush of adrenaline pumping through your veins after a nice run? Have you ever feel like crying but there are no tears? ...

2nd day of Interval Running

Was a bit tired for running last night as I played badminton first then I went running. Coz the treadmill was being used when I arrived at the sports hall. Did 6 sets of 3/2. Had a bit of a problem with the threadmill. The decrease speed button is not working properly so I had to press cool down and start the machine again when the cooldown is complete. Sigh! I did 2 sets of seat ups and some stretching. My calf mucles are sore but my left ankle is not holding up very well as I sort of had a soft sprain on last Friday while playing badminton.Plus my never ending left knee problem. I started having knee problems coz my previous domestic helper dropped a safe onto that knee. (Yes its a safe and its a long story) So now I have an ever lasting memory of that maid. Wonderful! Gonna do a bit of running later after work again.

2011/2012 Inter-house Badminton Tournament

Actually I have a lot of drafts just sitting there. I should really take the time to either complete those posts or just delete it. This is just one of those drafts. Diamonds won the inter-house badminton tournament for the 2nd time in a row (Or was it 3rd?) Me getting the medal from Hj Din The Medal The ladies from the Diamond Club minus some others who went off early Well Done Diamonds!!!!! Group Photo Norah looking very pleased with herself for getting the consolation price All in all, we had fun! Although there was some tense moments. I played 3 games in all. 2 ladies double and 1 mixed double. I enjoyed the mixed double very much indeed. My partner was very very very good. Defense was top notch. Smash was also quite good. And his footwork....gilar man can cover me. haha. Ladies double was not bad. The 1st match poses a bit of a challenge as one of the opponent was very strong. But with the guidance of our team captain, we aimed the weaker ...

Coach Bags Collection

Recently been crazy over Coach bags. I have 2 more Coach bags added to my collection. This is a gift from my parents. I was in KL for official work purposes and saw this gorgeous plain purple Coach with really nice and unique handle which is really suitable for work. And it was 40% off!!!! How lucky can I get??? It was quite a last minute buy as I was just walking around in KLIA and out of boredom, I walked into Coach shop. And there it was sitting right there, waiting for me. So I called my mom and told her about it and she just say go ahead buy it for yourself, will reimburse me when I got back to Brunei. Ohhhhhh!!!!! (Imitating that cat in Puss in Boots) I love my parents!!!!!!!!! Used it on the 1st day of Chinese New Year. This was a light blush colour that is very limited. You can see white, gray, black, red but you cant get this colour so easily. I specially ordered this bag directly from the US and had it sent to a friend of mine in Canada. This is fully leather so ...

Borders closing down?

I know that its a bit late on this news but I just got around to talking about this. I love Borders! Everytime I am in Singapore or anywhere else for all that matters, I'll always visit Borders coz it will always have the book that I want. Any book at all. Its really such a pity that their business models are not doing so well. Does anyone here loves to read books? I mean traditional books that you can hold in your hand and turn the page physically. I simply cant get use to reading ebooks on my Samsung Note nor my Ipad 2. Its just not the right feeling. I will always enjoy the feeling of anticipation when I bought the book that I had been waiting for and the feeling of not wanting to put down my book for any reasons at all (meal times or toilet breaks) I can still remember the first that I started getting hooked on Harry potter series. It was during my first uni semester break. Ahhh that was such a long long time ago. Reading books is and will remain my favourite past time...

Brunei ranked #5 as the world's richest countries

Just read this article and found out that Brunei has been ranked #5 as the world's richest countries. For those that are born in Brunei or living in Brunei for that matter, we are truly blessed. So don't complain that much and count our blessings in that we do not have to worry when will the next meal be coming or do we have enough money to pay the rent. Cheers!!! Live everyday happily.

Valentine's Day of 2012

How was your Valentine's Day? I know it was like 2 weeks ago but yeah I am that lazy. We just went for a simple dinner with his parents and go shopping. But he did something that was such a surprise. This bouquet was waiting for me when I arrive home. So sweet can!!!!! You can't really see the number of roses. But there were 9  stalks,  which means 'Together Forever' (Bi told me one) Bi told me that he wont be buying me flowers this year as he wanted to save and flowers are blardy expensive on V-day. So I was really touched!!!!! And he knew I loved pink and so Bi got me pink roses mixed with smaller blooms of red roses. Simple makeup look (Yeah yeah its the same pic that  I am using as my profile pic) Did very simple makeup for dinner since someone don't like me with heavy makeup. Like this he also complain already. He is always after me saying that he doesn't want me to use makeup, he prefer me to go out with a naked face. My dinner!!!!...
