After you by Jojo Moyes

After I read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes  a few years ago, I was waiting for the sequel. What would happen to Lou after Will left? What would her life be? If I am Lou, I will constantly ask myself 'Why am I not enough?' 'Is there anything that I could have done to change his mind?' 'Was it all just me? Just in my mind?' In this sequel, Lou was a wreck! But it's understandable though, she had just lost the love of her life. She has lost someone who had shown her the different aspects of life. Showed her that the life she have had is so unbelievably small. There is so much more to live for. Showed her how she could have made a difference! I couldn't put the book down and I finished it within 1 and a half day. It was strangely compelling. You will be rooting get for Lou all the way. Although there are times that you can't help but get angry with her! 'What was she thinking??????' There was a part in the book that addresses the length of ti...

Me Before you - Jojo Moyes

Have you read 'Me before you' by Jojo Moyes? If you haven had the chance to read it, you should. This is not a book of romance. It is not a light hearted romance. Its more about two person meeting at the wrong time. I couldnt put it down after reading the first page.  The excerpt from here. They had nothing in common until love gave them everything to lose . . . Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has barely been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex–Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is. Will is acerbic, moody, bossy—but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own...

Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

Something borrowed by Emily Giffin ( Pictures and excerpt from here ) Something Borrowed  tells the story of Rachel, a young attorney living and working in Manhattan. Rachel has always been the consummate good girl---until her thirtieth birthday, when her best friend, Darcy, throws her a party. That night, after too many drinks, Rachel ends up in bed with Darcy's fiancé. Although she wakes up determined to put the one-night fling behind her, Rachel is horrified to discover that she has genuine feelings for the one guy she should run from. As the September wedding date nears, Rachel knows she has to make a choice. In doing so, she discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren't always neat, and sometimes you have to risk all to win true happiness.  Something Borrowed  is a phenomenal debut novel that will have you laughing, crying, and calling your best friend. It was an enjoyable book and I totally engrossed from the very fi...

Lost cities of the world

I have always been fascinated by all the myths and mythologies ever since I was young. I like documentaries about the tombs of famous pharaohs, lost cities, mysteries (yeah call me a nerd) Have a read here about how technologies verify certain myths about lost cities. Recalling back to my childhood, I read a lot of books like the Hardy boy s, Nancy Drew and the Three Investigators . They had these 3 in 1 books that were sold in Bismi (a book shop which is also selling stationeries) in my hometown Seria. I wonder whether I still have those books or not. There were fun to read. I still remember that there is a hint of romance between Nancy Drew and one of the Hardy boys. I wanted very much to be an investigator back then. It seem so interesting all the things that they do. Well, I wanted to be a lot of things when I was young. I even wanted to be an archaeologists. Coz I wanted to be the one to discover tombs of important people and study their lives. I am curious about everything. I g...

Of books and cartoons

Ever since the Singapore trip (which I haven blogged about), I have very little personal time. And this Sunday is 1st day of Chinese New Year! Time passes by so fast, its un believable. But I'm glad that I feel that this year has past me by so fast. This means that I had things to do, things to buy, books to read, lami to play, badminton to play...... You know what I mean rite? I just finished reading this book. "The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan. Its a great book......for children or otherwise. It certainly kept me entertained throughout. There are some books which started out great but my interest waned before mid-book. So yeah...if I have time tonight, then I'll definitely start reading on the 2nd book tonight. This series of books is something like Harry Porter except that its more about the greek gods, like Zeus, Hades, Poseidon. Greeks mythologies are one of my greatest interest. Even from a young age, I love to read about how the Earth have different seasons...

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

I bought the book on Sunday and I finished reading the book last nite. I bought the book with recommendation from my sis Joanne. Actually I saw the book a couple of months ago and when I was reading the summary, it doesn't interest me all that much, so I didn't buy it. However, after reading it, I have to admit, it was an interesting read. Love between a vampire and a normal human being. With a hint of werewolves thrown in for good measure. Vampires and Werewolves, enemies as old as time. My favourite kind of story. Please note that this book is for young adults. (I still can read it what!!!! even though I am an adult and not a young adult) The male lead, Edward Cullen......he is something like a greek god as the book described him. I understand the attraction for readers. Good looking, drives a fast car (this trait is the one that I like the most), excel at everything, fiercely protective of those he loves. It would seem like he has no weakness (except for the thrist of blood...
