I was very worried on whether I will be able to finish the SCB 10km run on 8th April 2012.
My previous record was around 6km. But for the past week or so, I wasn't even running up to 4km! That's because I have Zumba class on Tues and Thurs and on Mon, Wed and Fri, I have badminton and after badminton, I cant run 5km.
So on last Friday, I told myself that I have to run at least 6km on the threadmill. But when I reached 5km, I wasn't tired at all, so I told myself try to run 5.5km, then when I reached 5.5km, I would try 6km and so on and so forth. By using this method, I ran 8.59km nonstop! I shocked myself even and I felt so proud as it wasn't that long ago that I could not even run for 5 mins straight.
I maintained a constant speed of 6kmh. I couldn't run very fast still. When I was doing the interval training, my fast speed was 7.2kmh.
I find that by maintaining a slower speed, I could actually run more, which is by far the better. This is for running long distance. Preserve energy and resist the urge to run fast at the beginning so that you will be able to finish the whole distance.
I promise myself that I will continue to run and get better.
PS After I felt fine after the run, but my ankles were very tired.
