UBD Green Run 2014

I haven been running since like forever! I think ever since my wedding back in January 2013, I seldom even run and its not as if I'm that good a runner. I registered for the 5km run together with Bi for the UBD Green Run on 14th September 2014. All in the name for recycling! Like I said, I haven been running since before my wedding. So, off I went for some 'training'. By training I mean just go running on the treadmill lo. Luckily we have a new gym now at Building 4, the treadmill is fantastic! ZZZZZZZ, I can barely run 2km! Talk about being a bad runner. I think I ran about 3 times before the actual run. All within 3km or 4km. On the Run day itself, we woke up at about 4:30am (Bi said to me this will be the first time and also the last time he will join me) Arrived at UBD before 6am and quite surprisingly there were not that many people. Sky turning light Not a lot of people around Waiting for warmups! Before the run. Still looking ...

Running

I should concentrate on my running. How to run faster and further. When I started running, I simply hated it. But I feel good after a run. Like I had completed a goal. However, due to certain circumstances, I haven been running as often as I should. And I find it hard to run again after such a long hiatus. I should really try my best to run again. Been reading articles on running and strength training to motivate myself to run once again. Lets hope that I'll get better in no time at all.

Running

I first started running (I mean seriously la) was back in early March. Coz my good friend asked me whether I wanna join the SCB Charity Run which was on 8th April 2012. I thought why not since I wanna lose weight and plus its for charity. Originally she wanted to join the 10km run but on the day of the online registration, she said her other friends changed their mind and they were going for the 5km run. Hmmm......till today I dunno what came over me, I told her to go for the 10km run as we can easily do the 5km run. Lets challenge ourselves and stupidly (as per her) she agreed and thus my journey began. All I did was run after work. I went online and searched for programs that might help me accomplish my goal. I found the couch to 5k program here if anyone is interested. (Actually I had printed out the program and stuck it on my cubicle wall a couple of months before.) I had always wanted to start running as I have seen the results on both my papa and my bro. To say that they...

My first 10km run

So the big day is finally here. The day that I have started running for. The Standard Chartered Charity Run 2012!!!!!!! The night before I was pretty nervous. I could not really sleep. There were so many things to prepare for the run. I got my clothes ready. I had to transfer my running songs to Bi's nano coz no way am I gonna carry kick ass huge Samsung Note while running and no way am I gonna just hold the phone in my hand. So I had to transfer the songs from my Samsung Note (which I normally use while running on the treadmill) Then getting all the things ready such as my clothes, the bib, the tag, the extra clothes, sunblock, etc. I went to bed at around 12:30am and I toss and turned, toss and turned! Even when Bi came to bed around 2:30am, I was kinda semi-awake. I had set the alarm at 4:45am. So the next thing I heard was the alarm ringing. I thought to myself "Here goes nothing!".  I tried to eat some bread and drank a cup of hot milo. It was very h...

My first 8.59km!

I was very worried on whether I will be able to finish the SCB 10km run on 8th April 2012. My previous record was around 6km. But for the past week or so, I wasn't even running up to 4km! That's because I have Zumba class on Tues and Thurs and on Mon, Wed and Fri, I have badminton and after badminton, I cant run 5km. So on last Friday, I told myself that I have to run at least 6km on the threadmill. But when I reached 5km, I wasn't tired at all, so I told myself try to run 5.5km, then when I reached 5.5km, I would try 6km and so on and so forth. By using this method, I ran 8.59km nonstop! I shocked myself even and I felt so proud as it wasn't that long ago that I could not even run for 5 mins straight. I maintained a constant speed of 6kmh. I couldn't run very fast still. When I was doing the interval training, my fast speed was 7.2kmh.  I find that by maintaining a slower speed, I could actually run more, which is by far the better. This is for...

My first 5km!!!!

I ran 5km!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Straight!!!!!!! without rest. I may have ran a little slow or fast but I ran all the way! here's the evidence. Feel so proud. I know to some people 5km is peanuts to them. But bear in mind that I have not ran in donkey years and even when I did it was so infrequent that it can be counted as non-running. hahaha! Camwhore sikit. Face so red after the 5km So yeah I started to take running seriously is like 2 weeks ago. I have reached half of my target distance which is 10km. Some may be puzzling why did I take up running suddenly. Its all because I signed up for the 10km charity marathon from SCB. The marathon is on 8th April 2012. I am seriously nervous. I don't wanna be the last! So I must, must, must train harder!

2nd day of Interval Running

Was a bit tired for running last night as I played badminton first then I went running. Coz the treadmill was being used when I arrived at the sports hall. Did 6 sets of 3/2. Had a bit of a problem with the threadmill. The decrease speed button is not working properly so I had to press cool down and start the machine again when the cooldown is complete. Sigh! I did 2 sets of seat ups and some stretching. My calf mucles are sore but my left ankle is not holding up very well as I sort of had a soft sprain on last Friday while playing badminton.Plus my never ending left knee problem. I started having knee problems coz my previous domestic helper dropped a safe onto that knee. (Yes its a safe and its a long story) So now I have an ever lasting memory of that maid. Wonderful! Gonna do a bit of running later after work again.

Exercise regime

Tried out interval running today. Well it feels great. I did not want to start with the most basic. So I started with 5 sets of 3/2 with 5 mins of warm up and cool down. Surprisingly I felt tired but still able to play badminton. 3/2 simply means running for 3 minutes followed by 2 mins of brisk walking. There are lots of benefits for interval running. But first and foremost it can be for weight loss in addition to Increase of stamina. After running, I played badminton! It was fun although I did sort of cause my partner to lose 2 matches. Haha. Well the opponent was damn strong ok. Me and a guy versus 2 guys! Oh well it was a very fun match. The others of coz won coz it was ladies double. Have to train harder as the charity run gets nearer
I am like so tired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haven been blogging lately coz I am so very the busy and not to mention tired, that is extremely tired. I had 3 days of Fire Marshall training last week. Tiring but fun. First day was pretty boring as it all theory and just sitting in the lecture hall listening to Encik Rozita. The 2nd day was really taxing. Had to be under the sun almost the whole day. I gotta grab the photos from our dearest photographer. 3rd day was also fun as they put us into the 'rumah asap' direct translation is the smoke house. Its pitch dark inside and we had to practically feel our way out. I scraped my knee but again it was really fun...... and its also extremely funny for group 4 ( I just wanna LOL when I think about it and their faces....haha) See Group 4 came out only after group 5 and 6 were out. Thats because when they reached the exit they did not pushed or knocked at the door where someone would let us out so they doubled back...not once but twice and in the ...
