After 2 years

Finally after 2 years, I have decided to uplift my AUD FD from SCB and also cancel my plat CC from SCB. Am moving on to a better deal. Feel a bit sad coz I have been a loyal customer of SCB ever since I started work and that was way back in 2005. Hahaha, I know someone is gonna laugh at me and say the bank is earning my money, why should I be sad right? I'm going after the plat CC from Baiduri. Deposit a minimum of B$5k, you can get a plat CC as well as 5 years fee waiver. The FD can only be uplifted after 5 years with a total of 12% interest (2.4% p.a) I think this is not bad a deal although the interest rate is not as high as the AUD FD but think of the CC charges that you are saving for the whole 5 years are quite high already. I asked the Baiduri staff on the annual fees for a plat CC, its $280 p.a. Multiply by 5 years, you are saving at least $1400 already. Let's hope that this is the right choice.

AUD is now on par with BND

Ok....my wish came true just now at 12:30 pm (approximate time) Lemme start at 10:45am. I obtained permission from my Head to go to the bank. So off I went to TAIB in Kiulap. I gave them a call yesterday and was told that they will be closing at 11:15 am for the Friday prayers. So I left my office around 10:45 and arrived there around 10:55am and guess what? THEY ARE ALREADY CLOSED!!!!!!! TAMADE!!!!! %*^&$(^ (I was really swearing at the bank). Cursing at whoever gave me the wrong info. Anyway, the reason why I was in a hurry to close of that account is to get money to put into AUD fixed deposit. I received an sms from SCB personnel (thank you very much) informing me that the exchange rate was 1.0111 and the interest rate was 5.625%. I was so happy. Guess what? When I arrived at SCB, I was informed that AUD is now on par with BND . One to one le. Wah....and best of all the interest rate is still 5.625% (Coz normally if AUD decreases, the interest rate will also decrease) Minimum to...

Updates

Just met my to be Head of Unit. He seems ok. I hope he is ok. Anyway, I'm going to the bank later to place a fixed deposit on AUD. Have been monitoring the exchange rates for the past few weeks. Today the exchange rate is only 1.0111....good time to change money......the interest rate is 5.625%. Also the lowest so far but still its very very worthwhile.

Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc

Wow 2nd post today? I'm on a roll. Anyway, this is big news. Anyone who reads the news would have known this by now. Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., the 4th largest US investment bank had filed for bankruptcy yesterday. News ticker in New York's Times Square (Pic taken from Yahoo!) More news at the following links: - BBC CBS news Lehman is a 158 year old bank that is up stumped by credit crisis and soured real estates values. Closing for key Asia-Pacific stock market on 15.09.2008 (Pic from Yahoo!) Lehman Shares since Feb 2008 (pic from Yahoo!) Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock indes decreased by 4% (pic from Yahoo!) Do you know what kind of impact this would have on my investments???? I have 3 seperate investments. 1. ASB (Should be quite stable kua) 2. Public China Select Fund (I bought it at 0.18++ and the price as at 12.09.08 is only 0.1660. Its just gonna drop further since it has not yet taken in the effect of the lehman bankruptcy. This is bad) 3. Public Dividend Select...

Spendthrift

I spent Bnd 1,000.00 yesterday. Actually it was B$1,100 but Bi offered to pay B$100.00 No....its not on LV bags nor shoes, nor jewelries......... Its for my Silvia......the tires are so worn out. It was so bad that virtually, there is no tracks on it anymore. It was so smooth. Not even suitable for drifting, not that I know how to. It's expensive I know. But then what other alternatives do I have? At least its worthwhile. I finally found the choice of the tyres that I wanted. The cheapest 225/40 that was available was in Hock Tyres, costing B$ 185.00 per piece. But I was not that keen on it as it was Good year eagle and its made in Vietnam or Indonesia. The European made ones cost about B$ 300++++, so that is out of the question. I made that inquiry over a month ago and when I finally went there yesterday to change it, they had sold out!!!! (Its a blessing in disguise as I don't really trust Indonesia tyres le) Then I found Bridgestone costing about B$ 265.00 per tyre at one sh...

Financial Planning

Its been so long since I last posted anything. I dun have my camera with me so there wont be any photos this time. Sigh.....the time of the year is here again.....CPA.....damn.....feel lazy to even flip the pages let alone read through it. Luckily, the test for the citizenship was released and my name is not on it.....my bro was called for the briefing though....Lots of luck to him.....pray that he will be able to have his citizenship by the end of next year......and as for me, I will be halting my CPA papers for next semester. So that I will be able to concentrate on studying for the citizenship (my malay is already bad enough, imagine me learning bahasa brunei and bahasa dalam) I should be studying right now....exam is in less than a month....and the schedule says that I should be revising the whole folder again and not starting to study.....I haven even reach half of the folder, guess this is gonna be a repeat of what happen last sem. I will end up not having time to revise and end ...

To buy or not to buy....that is the question

Right now I am deciding whether or not to buy Nissam Silvia, S15 that my colleague's brother-in-law is selling. The asking price is a bit on the high side since the car is 3 years old.......but the good thing is that it is fully mod.....with full body kit plus spoiler and 18 inch sport rims....with blow off valve.....the test drive in it was great although I wasn't the one driving....(I was wearing heels ba so I dun feel like driving) Like I said the test drive is great but the down side of the mod suspension is the comfort.....no comfort there at all......you can practically feel every bump and pothole on the road. One might ask me how come I want to buy a second hand car at 30K....the thing is that I like the idea that it is fully mod.....another thing is that my top priority is speed....this car can offer me more speed that Toyota Celica and the best thing is that it a 3 year old car......Hmmm....but then it is pricey even with all the mod...so I will be going with Bi to loo...
