Bobby Tanota's wedding in Medan

Bi and me went off to Medan in Dec for our good friend, Bob wedding in Medan.

I tried to buy direct flights to Medan, unfortunately there are no direct flight. Either stopover in Singapore or KL and then transit to Medan. After working out all the cost and everything, I decided to fly Airasia.

Its cheaper but.....a very big BUT the flight was delayed. If I remember correctly (old liaw happened about a month ago), we were scheduled to fly off around 7pm plus but ended up flying off at around 10pm plus le. Luckily I was very the ready! I brought Bi's PSP as well as my small acer as well as a book to kill boredom. We just sat around in coffee bean and use the wifi there. I even manage to post sth on fb regarding the delayed flight. hahaha..............no one was surprised that the flight was delayed.

Since the flight to Medan was around 11am the next morning, I decided to stay at tunes hotel, which is only like 5 mins away from the airport. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! For the amount that I paid for that room, its like so not worth it. The room was barely big enough for 2 person and when we entered the room, it was so hot inside. Not to mention that the room that we were given was so close to the elevator. Hence, I could hear people walking around and talking very loudly in the middle of the night! These ppl also no brain one, in the middle of the night walk here n there never mind, yet still dare to talk as if they are alone in the whole hotel. *sigh* The room and the toilet itself is not that clean as well. So all in all, it was a big geli lo.

So we arrived at the airport bright and early to have breakfast at Old Town.

The food was good! Bi and me had good old coffee, toast, hor fun and asam laksa. It was YUMMY! The food is way better than secret recipe. I wan Old Town in Brunei le.

We walked around trying to kill time. Sayang that the LCCT doesn't have Burberry or even Burgerking. Only have Sembonia and MarryBrown. Nothing much to shop but we got some sweets and plums to help us minimise the air pressure while flying.

Guess what???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our flight was delayed (AGAIN!)

Finally the first pic of this post.....is me looking quite unhappy about the delay.

Actually, I did try to smile liaw.....but FAIL!

See this pic of Bi.....

Doesn't it look very familar? Coz its the same pose as here.

Can you find the pic that I referring to?

Only this time he didn't even bother to look at the camera. Boys and their PSP....

We touched down at the Medan airport and my heart was racing very face. Coz I heard all sorts of things about the immigration in Indonesia. Luckily it was alright. The officers were quite efficient. (Maybe also perhaps we walked damn fast and was right infront of the queue lo)

Once we cleared the immigration, we waited outside for our friend Bobby. Gosh, its been like 5 years since we last met. It was back in 2004. He seemed taller than I last remembered. (and slimmer too) hehe. He brought us for lunch before heading back to check into the hotel.

Warning! If you are feeling hungry please do not read any further! Its all pictures of food!

Satay! This is the salty type. Abit not used to it. But the chilli is damn spicy! Whew! But with all the onions......so wangi la.

This is something like pulut panggang. But the filling is so much! Got daging, ayam and fish (think its tuna or something) Sorry was too hungry so ate a few pieces before remembering to take pic.

This one is non-halal! Pig's spareparts! Wah so nice la. With the sauce........oooooo delicious!

This one is just normal noodle soup (Bob was having this not me so dunno about the taste) But I was surprised that they put keropok in the noodle soup! He said this is better than the Duck meehoon soup wo. (coming up next)

This is the duck meehoon soup! Don't for a moment think that this is just any normal duck soup. As you can see that the soup is clear! But yet so tasty. This is simply A +++++++++ (Bob claimed that his noodle soup is nicer than this. But everyone ordered this le!)

This is another very the delicious food! Its something like fish cake but then there is an egg in the middle of it. Can you all see a bit yellowish in the middle? It was still hot when it was serve. Goes perfectly with the sauce.

Last but not least the drinks that Bi and me ordered. Bob ordered it first. I tot its Teh C Ping lagi la. I asked him wat issit. He said green bean! I was so blur that I thought that it was green bean + teh C ping le. (yeah blur me) But it was gula Melacca with green bean. It was delicious once again. Note that I DO NOT like green beans at all. But I love this drink.

I am getting so hungry. I can still remember all the different taste.

Oh yeah, was so eager to post the pictures of food that I forgot something that shocked me in Medan! The traffic. Those who haven been to Indonesia (someone told me that the traffic is worse in Jakarta) It was so terrible. 2 lane road became a 5 lane road. Our driver was driving on the wrong lane lagi which was meant for the on coming traffic and not us. Imagine our horror when I saw the direction of the arrow (on the road) pointing towards us. I feel like stepping on the brake for the driver.

Another thing is that all the cars are so close together that you can practically just roll down your window n dig the nose for the person in the car next to yours! Yes, am not exaggerating. It was terrible. No one uses the indicator. Everyone just keep honking!

The Hotel

We stayed in Swissbel Hotel which was recommended by Bob. It is adjacent to the newest mall in Medan. It was so cheap. The hotel rates I mean. For a 5 star hotel, I paid like only Bnd190 for 2 nights, inclusive of all taxes and service charges.

The kickass king size bed.

With the 32 inch TV

The wall decorations. (It looks like a giant safety pin to me)

Full length mirror. Actually its the wardrobe.

Although the hotel services were impeccable but I got one huge complaint about the hotel. Lighting not enough! It was quite dark. I wanna do makeup also hard. Have to fight with Bi over the toilet mirror.

Dinner!

This is Indon Kolomee. Very the nice also. Sorry it was messed up. Too hungry liaw.

This is something like.....I forgot the name liaw. But this is nice as well coz its crispy on the outer layer and soft and chewy on the inside.

Fried mee! Got crab meat some more......

Not much photog coz we were too busy eating and having fun with our new friends.

New friends: Jenny and Kok Fei (not sure whether its the right spelling o not)

Jenny is crazy about BB(blackberry) and till now still asking me to buy.

Group Photo

Abbi and Arto

Jenny and me (pardon the sweaty look, it was very hot and humid). Just realised that Jenny and me are both wearing red!

My star earrings.....have been looking forever for it. Found it in Medan!

My new PINK crocs!

Bi also bought new crocs but I din manage to get a pic. Its like leather shoes like that but then its crocs. So light and comfy wo (as per Bi lo) I have to admit that it was little ol me who pointed out that design one........

All made up for the dinner. Regretted not bringing my yellow high heels le.

Wah my Bi so shuai le! (Tell you sth ah, he bought the whole get up in Medan coz he DID NOT bring any formal clothes to Medan although I told him to. He brought jeans and a polo shirt nia.)

Me with the feather headband bought just that afternoon

Abbi and me (self taken)

Jenny helped us take this photo coz she kesian us. But then I like to take pic of ourselves also one.

The menu for the night

Fresh water king prawn with fruitsalad.
The prawn is kick ass sized. Too bad I don't like prawn. But I love the fruit salad.

Braised shark's fin soup with superior seafood in mini casserole
DELICIOUS! Its shaped into a fin like shape. Simply delicious.

There is a chicken in teriyaki sauce in between here but was too hungry. Only remembered no photog was taken after I finished everything.

Cod fish in spicy thai sauce
I actually forgot to take pic. Thats why I took Bi's portion instead. I love Cod fish but I find the sauce not spicy enough.

Taipan Extraordinary fried rice in bamboo tube

My red wine

Chilled Lemon Grass Jelly
Both Bi and me squeezed the kasturi into the drink. I personally think it taste better with the lime juice.

Flowers!

See that tofu thingey on the right. I think that its some sort appetizer. I love it!

I like this pic of Bi. He looks so cute neh!

Newly weds! Look so different from the previous day eh?

They were all going to a club after the wedding after the dinner reception. Yes the groom and the bride included. But since Bi and me has an early flight, we decided not to join them.

So said byes to our newly found friend and old friends as well and hope that it wont be too long before we meet again.

When we arrived at the airport the next morning, we had quite the shock. We had absolutely no idea how it is gonna be....you know after hearing all those horror stories.

It was so hectic. Everyone rushing to grab your luggage. Dunno whether to let them help or not since we dunno whether they are gonna run off with my luggage o not. Then while I was checking out whether our flight details, one guy approached us and asked air asia. The he took our passport and itinary out of my hands! I was so scared at that point. Turned out he just wanted to help us to fill in the necessary forms and pay the taxes in return for a small fees of coz. I had no idea what was happening and of coz we din have any small change on hands. The person who helped us with the luggage is so greedy, we gave him some tips he said its not enough. He just asked for more. The person who helped us with the forms were kinder though. He just asked for a very small fees. Luckily nothing bad happened when we were leaving.

From Medan to KL

The clouds

The view

And as per Bi, prove that we went to Pavilion. We only had like 4 hours to spare. We took the huge risk in going out to Pavilion. Had lunch there....YUMMY! and bought perfumes! I bought Anna Sui 'Rock Me' (actually it was Bi buy for me one) hehe.

This is what you do when you are bored in the plane. READ!

Thats all for now. Writing a travel blog is tiring! This post has been in the writing since the start of 2010 le. Thats you if you noticed, I wrote less and less towards the end.

There have been so many instances where I came by my blog and I want to blog about so many things in my life. But there were also as many instances where I just gave up and kept my thoughts to myself. I am 34 years old in 2017 and soon I will be another year older. I am getting more jaded every year because of the things that I have seen. I also feel aimless. I feel as if I am meant to do something more than this. I do not want to wake up and go to work Monday to Friday and so happy when its Friday and becoming depressed when its Sunday (coz the next day would be Monday) It's not like I want to be a millionaire or something like that. Even though money is still important (Hey, I still gotta eat, cant very well grow my own food), it no longer hold the same position as compared to a few years ago. I do not care very much for status as well. Its all so fleeting. After being married in 2013, I am still childless at the moment. Its not by design but I dun mind it all that m...

Unveiling

I was so excited yesterday. Someone called and told me that it was ready for pick up. What is ready for pick up? What makes me so excited? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . What else would make me so excited other than cars? Woo Hoo!!!!! Subaru Impreze STi !!!! How cool is that? Bi fetched me yesterday around 5pm to pick up the car. I could not sit still at home. Was feeling so excited. STi has 3 settings, Intelligence, Sport and Sport Sharp. I read an article online saying that the Intelligence mode makes the STi crawls like a snail. Hmmmm, their exact words not mine. So Bi and me took the car out for a short drive. We were kinda disappointed with the power. It was then we realised that the setting was at intelligence. OMG!!!! When we changed the settings to Sport Sharp, the power is unbelievable. Its like 3 times faster and more powerful. We hit 180 km/h in less than 2 minutes (mite be less if not for those few turtles on the road). In the past S15 will need quite some time to hit 16...

After you by Jojo Moyes

After I read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes  a few years ago, I was waiting for the sequel. What would happen to Lou after Will left? What would her life be? If I am Lou, I will constantly ask myself 'Why am I not enough?' 'Is there anything that I could have done to change his mind?' 'Was it all just me? Just in my mind?' In this sequel, Lou was a wreck! But it's understandable though, she had just lost the love of her life. She has lost someone who had shown her the different aspects of life. Showed her that the life she have had is so unbelievably small. There is so much more to live for. Showed her how she could have made a difference! I couldn't put the book down and I finished it within 1 and a half day. It was strangely compelling. You will be rooting get for Lou all the way. Although there are times that you can't help but get angry with her! 'What was she thinking??????' There was a part in the book that addresses the length of ti...
