I wonder why there are some people who like to say 'This is my assistant' or 'This is my staff'. Especially if their own position is like general clerk. To make them feel good about themselves is it? Even my Head of Department calls me her colleague and her her staff.
Recently, I was talking to one fren about another fren. He was telling me how this gal recently just joined his wife's company. He said something like this 'Oh, you didn't know meh? She's my wife's assistant.' Macam wanna show off that his wife got an assistant and there is someone who is a lower rank than his wife.
Maybe I am too sensitive or something. I just feel like there is no need to specify what post a certain person is holding. If anyone ask whether that person is working in the same company as you are, just say 'Yeah, she is my colleague.' Short and straight to the point. Don't reply something like 'Yeah, she is only a general clerk in my company.' Just feel like its a look down of some sort.
Just some thoughts.
